Tessil J. Collins Producer – Educator – Writer – Artist – Businessman – Forecaster
Tessil J. Collins is the owner of the Spectrum Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), an Internet webcasting and creative services company. SBC produces audio/video/graphic design products for broadcast, print and the web. Mr. Collins is a skilled professional and educator experienced in all aspects of media production and technology, graphic and web design, music promotion and marketing, and advertising. A creative writer and designer, Mr. Collins is proficient in Microsoft Office 2007; Adobe Master Collection CS3, Apple Final Cut Pro Suite 6 and Digidesign ProTools.
Tessil is the producer of Sun-Music www.sun-music.net, an Internet radio website. He writes and produces marketing materials for such clients as the Massachusetts Department of Public Health A business consultant and manager to local service providers, musicians and artists, Mr. Collins creates and revises curriculum used in arts, media, communications, business and public service programs of secondary and post secondary institutions.
In June 2008, Mr. Collins graduated from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s Broadcast Leadership Training Program. This year-long program is targeted to senior level broadcast managers of proven ability who aspire to advance as group executives or station owners. It can also help successful entrepreneurs in other industries who wish to make the transition to broadcasting.
Mr. Collins is the Director, University/Business Partnerships, Extended Learning & Grant Management at Dorchester Academy, a Boston Public High School. The mission of Dorchester Academy is to educate, empower and inspire students to act and be responsible today for distinctive achievement, contribution and success tomorrow. The goal of Dorchester Academy is to graduate socially conscious students who are skilled in business and public service.
Mr. Collins held the position of Senior Coordinator in the Boston Public Schools’ Office of High School Support/Career & Technical Education. He also spent 22 years as a teacher of Communication Arts/Television Production at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School.
Tessil is the writer and producer of “My Roxbury”, a video poem that celebrates the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, Massachusetts. He also worked as Director of Public Service for WBZ radio and as an Account Executive for Boston radio stations WBCN, WZLX, and WILD. Tessil was National Director of Promotion and Marketing for Beantown Music, Northeast Promotion Manager for Atlantic Records and the Polygram Group, RCA, A&M, and Arista Records.
Tessil Collins is a Vice President and Board Member of the Ford Hall Forum and a Trustee of the Roxbury Crossing Historical Trust. He enjoys bringing projects to their ultimate success. As the media have converged and times have changed Tessil has emerged as an innovator and leader. Mr. Collins is a management professional whose consultant services are available for contract in the all aspects of the media, music, politics and education.
Tessil Collins was born in Boston and is a graduate of Tufts University and the Boston Latin School.
