Tessil J. Collins is the Industry Cluster Coordinator of Arts, Media & Communications Technology for the Boston Public Schools’ Office of High School Renewal. In this role Tessil provides support to AMCT theme schools high schools and assists in securing resources. His focus is on curriculum design, interdisciplinary learning, partnership expansion, program evaluation and research, and grant development.
The AMCT theme schools are Boston Arts Academy, Brighton High School, Jeremiah E. Burke HS, Media & Communications HS, The English High School, and Madison Park Technical Vocational High School.
Tessil Collins was born in Boston and is a graduate of Tufts University and the Boston Latin School. Mr. Collins spent 23 years an instructor of Communication Arts/Television Production at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School. Tessil is a skilled professional experienced in audio and video production, music promotion and marketing, education, and instructional technology.
Tessil was named one of six Greater Boston "Unsung Heroes" in 2002 by Tribune Broadcasting, WB56 Boston, and BlackVoices.com. He is a Board Member of the Ford Hall Forum, Berklee College of Music's President's Office of Community and Governmental Affairs, and a Trustee of the Roxbury Crossing Historical Trust.
Tessil has held positions as Account Executive for Boston radio stations WBCN, WZLX, and WILD; produced music programs for WBPS, WILD, and WBZ; and served as Director of Public Service for WBZ Radio in Boston. He was Northeast Promotion Manager for Atlantic Records and the Polygram Label Group; Regional Field Marketing Manager for RCA, A&M, and Arista Records; and National Director of Promotion and Marketing for Beantown Music. As Creative Director for Spectrum Creatives, Mr. Collins wrote and produced anti-smoking advertising for the Massachusetts Department of Health.
